Pre-second Appointment

Well, it is the Sunday before our second appointment and we are very excited! This Thursday, at our appointment, we should be finding out whether our twins are identical or fraternal. If they are identical, they will share the same placenta after the sperm and egg split. If they are fraternal, they will each be in their own placentas because of the two sperm connecting to two eggs. (We are learning a lot!)

Although, the health and development of our babies is the highest item of importance to us, we are hoping are babies are identical :)

Mom is starting to show around the midsection and we are still not sure where these two babies are going to be stored in her 5' 2" frame! God works in mysterious ways, that is for sure.

She has been feeling much better lately and has been getting plenty of rest.

Dad is excited to see the physical signs of the presence of babies on Mom. (He had to be extra careful in how he worded that last phrase!) He talks to the babies often and we both cannot wait to meet them.

Until next time...

"Are you two seeing what I'm seeing??"

On January 6th, we went in for our first appointment with our new baby doctor, Dr. Blair. Everything was going smoothly and we had just spotted our baby's heartbeat on the monitor when Dr. Blair began moving the camera around some more.

All of a sudden, we see a smudge off to the side followed by a comment from Dr. Blair saying, "Looks like there might be more activity over here." Silence. "Well are you two seeing what I'm seeing?" asked Dr. Blair. (while the nurse in the background made a joyful jubilation sound from her mouth).

"Uhhhh, soo, uhhh. What? Is that twins??"
"Yes it is," said Dr. Blair, "and they look healthy and are the same size."
